Our Lady of Light Parish St. Catherine of Sienna and St. Pascal Baylon churches

Pastor's Welcome

Dear Visitor:

On behalf of all the Parishioners of Our Lady of Light Parish I wish to welcome you to our newly revised website. Our Lady of Light was formed in 2008 by the merger of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish and St. Pascal Baylon Parish.

In only a few brief years we have done much together and this this website is our most recent tool in bringing the knowledge and love of Our Lord Jesus Christ to our members, former member, neighbors and, we hope, future members. To our present members:  you will find all necessary Parish information in one place. Back issues of bulletins, ministry schedules, calendars, etc. It will prove, I am sure, a practical benefit to all.  I hope however that you will linger at the site and check out what your friends and neighbors are doing. We hope to keep an ever changing gallery of pictures both past and present as well as links to websites of particular interest to Catholics.

To our former parishioners: I must admit that I love visiting the websites of parishes where I once served. It is wonderful to see former parishioners especially those who were children when I knew them first now grown up with their own families. I hope that this will give people who have given so much to our Parish over the years and have moved from the community an opportunity to be connected with us again. Please invite any interested party to be reconnected with family and friends at this site.

To our present neighbors and people considering a move to South Queens: Please look around this site. We ask you to pay particular attention to our Religious Education Programs, our Young Adult ministry and our connection with EQUAL. As a parish we are committed to lifelong religious formation and we have developed the leadership and the programs to make this a reality. We also realize that young people are not only the future of the Church but its present as well and we encourage their active participation. Our youth program is not directed to doing things for our young people but actively working with them on building up our Parish.  We also recognize that we cannot be separated from the community and through our participation in EQUAL we have directly addressed issues as diverse as Public Safety and Flooding. If you return to this sight in the future you will see initiatives to develop resources for aging in place with dignity and comfort within our community.

We realize that this website offers only the virtual connection that exists in the impersonal world of cyberspace. The Events and list of societies, ministries and community commitments can indicate the breath of the parish's activities but cannot convey the depth and warmth of our people. We would love to have you join us at Sunday Mass or any other function. We want to get to know your name and make you feel at home with the members of our parish family. Please call the parish office at 718-528-1220 and leave a message on my voicemail or email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will get back to you to answer any questions you may have and to extend a personal invitation.

To one and all; members present, past and, I pray, future, I remain

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father William G. Smith
